Hardside Luggage FAQ
Your Questions, Answered
Most Ricardo hardside collections are constructed from premium polycarbonate, one of the lightest and most impact-resistant shell materials available. The Rodeo Drive 2.0 uses Makrolon® polycarbonate — a aerospace-grade material known for exceptional flexibility and durability. Polycarbonate shells flex on impact rather than crack, helping protect your belongings even through the roughest baggage handling.
FastAccess™ is Ricardo’s front-opening panel system, featured on select Brentwood and Montecito 2.0 carry-ons. It lets you unzip a front compartment and access your laptop, tablet, or personal items without ever opening the main body of the bag. Perfect for moving through airport security quickly — no need to remove your bag from the overhead bin or lay it flat on a surface.
Most Ricardo hardside collections include a built-in TSA-approved combination lock. TSA agents can open your bag for inspection using a master key without cutting or damaging your lock. Collections with built-in TSA locks include Brentwood, Cambria, Jacinto Peak, Laguna, Melrose, Montecito 2.0, and Rodeo Drive 2.0. The Claremont 2.0, Indio, Oceano, and Rialto collections do not include a built-in lock. If you need instructions for resetting your combination, visit our TSA Lock Instructions page.
The Montecito 2.0, Rodeo Drive 2.0, and Laguna hardside collections feature an external USB-A charging port. Simply place a portable power bank (not included) inside the bag, connect it to the internal cable, and charge your devices through the exterior port without opening your bag. Note: the USB port is for charging only — it does not connect to any internal battery.
Yes — nearly all Ricardo hardside spinners feature an expansion zipper that adds approximately 1.5″ of additional packing depth. This is especially useful on the return trip home when your bag is a little more full than when you left. Just keep in mind that expanding your bag may push it over airline checked baggage size limits, so we recommend compressing it back before checking in.
All Ricardo Beverly Hills hardside luggage is backed by a 10-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. To make a warranty claim, register your product and contact our customer service team. Damage caused by airlines, misuse, or normal wear and tear is not covered under the warranty, but our service team can help with repairs. Visit our Warranty page for full details.
To clean the exterior shell, wipe it down with a damp cloth and mild soap — avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that may dull the finish. For the interior lining, remove loose debris and spot clean with a damp cloth and a small amount of gentle detergent. Allow the bag to air dry completely before storing. To keep wheels rolling smoothly, occasionally remove any hair or debris that may become wrapped around the axles.
Ricardo carry-on spinners are designed to meet the standard domestic carry-on size limit of 22″ x 14″ x 9″ (including wheels and handles) accepted by most major U.S. airlines. International routes and smaller regional aircraft may have stricter size restrictions. We recommend checking your specific airline’s policy before you fly. Use our Airline Carry-On Compliance Checker to look up size limits by carrier.
Yes. Ricardo offers replacement parts including wheels for most active hardside collections. Visit our Service & Repairs page to find compatible parts or locate an authorized service center near you. If your bag is still within the warranty period and the wheel failure is due to a manufacturing defect, the repair or replacement may be covered at no charge.
